Despite an unusual downpour of rain, our performance at the Braille Institute was met with an almost full room. Although our performance group consisted of only two soloists and one pianist, we were unexpectedly joined by musicians from the audience. We always invite audience participation, and this group did not disappoint.

Three people came up and sang and one saxophonist accompanied one of our soloists in a rendition of Summertime. This interactive performance made a profound impression. The music program leader expressed it by saying, "In my 30 years working here, no one has ever involved the audience in the singing and invited musicians from the audience to come up and perform.”

However, the highlight of the evening was a solo by Abbe, entitled “Times Like This.” The song speaks about how during tough times all one really needs is a dog. These lyrics resonated so much with the crowd that they cheered loudly when Abbe reached that point in the song.
